Field and scientific work
Field work is planed in order to apply new more reliable methods for estimating trends in the bear population numbers, diet analyzes, and threats.
РThere are four permanent teams and a number of external experts with extensive experience. The teams are responsible for Rhodope Mountain, Rila Mountain, Pirin Mountain and Central Balkan Mountain as well as the adjacent mountains with proven or expected bear presence.
The key habitats are determined and are evaluated on the basis of biotical and abiotical characteristics. This is done using transects with fixed length and location which purpose is to compare data and statistical reliability when analyzing the received data.
Analysis of the road network and infrastructure using fixed indicators in order to determine the possibilities for migration of the large mammals, and bears in particular, through these place.
